As the heir apparent to Tommy Maddox's position, the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Ben Rothelisberger. Ben went to become the NFL to the streets during the 2004 season. After Tommy Maddox suffered an injury during Pittsburgh's second week loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Rothelisberger was elevated to starting quarterback, and the Steelers were never the same. The Steelers were dubbed Big Ben due to an impressive build, which was untypical for quarterbacks, the player was a winner in his debut start in week three of 2004, and then won in week four. The Steelers and Rothelisberger kept winning and, suddenly, the Steelers became a major force within the AFC. This came following an awful 2003 season. The streak ended in an end when Rothelisberger led the Steelers to victory by 34-20 and gave Pittsburgh an advantage over the AFC. Rothelisberger led the Philidelphia Eagles 27-3 defeat on Sunday their first loss of the season. This led to the Terrell Owens-Donovan McNabb controversy.
