 Elmo asks the baby in each episode of Elmo's World. Even though there are only one or two episodes, each episode features an individual baby. This gives viewers an array of ethnicities, genders, and levels of awareness. Sometimes, the baby will just stare blankly. They often attempt to grab Elmo's fur, and appear completely enthralled by Elmo's attention. Elmo's requests are often received with a complete lack of understanding by the infant. In the episode "Balls" For instance, the baby stares at the ball drop into the earth. and rejoicing the baby with a sweet kiss.The format changes slightly in Season 35 episodes. Instead of talking to the baby on the Elmo's World sets, the encounter takes places outside (or inside a home) where the baby is sitting on a lawn chair or on the bench. Elmo then asks the baby what song everyone in the world can sing, and the baby "whispers," an operetta to Elmo's ears.
