 Ayn Rand, formerly was known as Alissa Zinovievna Rosebaum (born February 2nd 1905 in St. Petersburg, Russia - died March 6, 1982, New York City, New York), Russian-born American author. Her novels that are commercially successful that promote individualism, capitalism that is laissez-faire, were highly regarded by young people who were from the United States. Her father Zinovy Rosenbaum was a prominent pharmacist. After being taught in the home, Alissa Rosenbaum, the youngest of three children was enrolled at an progressive school in which she was an academic star, however she was socially excluded. The shop of her father was confiscated by communist authorities after the Russian Revolution of 1917. This was something she deeply regrets. She took a course in history at Leningrad State University and was well-versed in Aristotle as well as Plato's work. When she graduated in 1924 she was accepted into the State Institute for Cinematography, hoping to become a screenwriter.The arrival of a letter from cousins in Chicago provided her with the opportunity to depart the country on the basis of learning skills which she could use to the Soviet film industry. After her arrival in the United States in 1926, she changed her name to Ayn Rand. (Her first name is a r
