Ronald Merle McNutt (33-year-old American) took a shot under the chin during a Facebook Livestream. The livestream went viral on social media sites. The incident was notable due to both the callous attitude expressed toward McNutt's suicide by a few online users, aswell as Facebook's slow response to the video, which had been shared to numerous other platforms, and had amassed many views before it was eventually taken down. TikTok which is a video platform is slow in responding to the video. It had been shared in many user's feeds and re-uploads many times, prompting many users to opt to leave the site. McNutt worked at an Toyota plant in New Albany, and had maintained a fairly stable lifestyle however, it was revealed that he suffered from a variety of mental health issues including depression as well as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the latter being directly related to his time served during the Iraq War. He was also struggling with the loss of his partner. According to some reports, that McNutt was fired during the COVID-19 pandemic. Rolling Stone disagreed.
