Pam Grier

 Pamela Suzette Grier, popularly called Pam Grier, is an American actress, who became famous due to her roles in various blaxploitation films, such as 'The Big Bird Cage' and 'Coffy' as well as 'Foxy Brown', and 'Sheba Babe'. The actress was criticised for her blaxploitation role but she made a comeback in Quentin Tarantino's film 'Jackie Brown which earned her an Golden Globe nomination for her performance. Pam Grier was raised in Winston-Salem in North Carolina. Her father was a veteran of the military and the family moved around a lot during her childhood, eventually moving to Denver. She studied at East High School and dreamed of becoming a doctor. She acted in a number of stage productions and took part in beauty contests in order to raise money for her college tuition. Apart from 'Jackie Brown", Grier has given a variety of blockbusters that are mainstream like 'Fort Apache, The Bronx' and "Above the Law". She's not married, but has been involved in relationships with Kareem AbdulJabbar the basketball star as well as Richard Pryor. Pam Grier was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Sciences from Langston University and her Honorary Doctorate of Humane Literatures at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
