Ben Roethlisberger

In the role of the apparent successor to Tommy Maddox's job, the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Ben Rothelisberger. He would go to become a star in the NFL to the streets in 2004. When Maddox went down with an injury in Pittsburgh's 2nd week loss of 2004 to the Baltimore Ravens, Rothelisberger was elevated to starting quarterback, and the Steelers' season was not the similar. The Steelers were dubbed Big Ben due to an impressive build, which was untypical for quarterbacks. He was a winner in his debut start in week three of 2004 and won again during week four. The Steelers and their quarterback kept winning and, suddenly, the Steelers became a major force in the AFC. This was after an unsatisfactory 2003 season. The streak was cut in half when Rothelisberger led Pittsburgh to a 34-20 win which gave Pittsburgh an AFC lead. On the following Sunday, Rothelisberger dealt the visiting Philidelphia Eagles a 27-3 pounding which was the Eagles losing their first game of the year and which led to the infamous Terrell Owens-Donovan Mcabb sideline incident.
