James, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, before moving the family to Atlanta, Georgia, when Usher was twelve years old. Cited by the singer as his most trusted friend, Usher's mom continues to guide the teen star's career as his manager, a role she assumed following her departure from her full-time office job a few years ago. When he moved to Atlanta, Usher began participating in local talent shows. Bryant Reid, his brother and famed R&B producer, was there to watch Usher perform in 1992. Also, he was the co-president of LaFace Records with 'Kenneth Babyface’ Edmonds. Bryant set up Usher's audition to be conducted for his brother. The well-known producer fell in love with Usher's talent and gave him an agreement. In 1994, Usher released his debut album through LaFace. The record, which was co-executive-produced by Reid and Sean 'P. The song that was a minor success "Think of You" was written by Diddy Combs. He was just 14 years of age when he began work on the album. The puberty stage also proved to be a hindrance. The producers brought in several vocal coaches to assist him in completing the album. They were successful in that Usher's youthful exuberance and natural talent for singing was captured in the album. It also caught the attention of numerous fans. After graduating from high school, Usher entered the studio to make his second album.
