 Marilyn Monroe was an American performer, comedian, actress and model. Marilyn Monroe is among the most recognizable and loved celebrities around the globe. She is best known as the Hollywood symbol of sex as well as for her tragic and challenging professional and personal experience within the world of film. Her death and her life are controversial and speculative. She was born Norma Jeane Mortenson in the Los Angeles County Hospital, 1 June 1926. Her mother, Gladys Pearl (Monroe) was born in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, to American parents from Indiana and Missouri, and was a film cutter at Consolidated Film Industries. By DNA testing, Marilyn's father's identity was confirmed as Charles Stanley Gifford. He was born in Newport, Rhode Island to a family with deep roots in the state. Because Gladys was mentally and financially incapable of caring for the her daughter Marilyn, Gladys placed her into the care of a foster familycalled The Bolenders. Gladys was able to stabilize Marilyn's lifestyle and she took her back at the age of seven. Marilyn was just seven years old. But shortly after taking back control of Marilyn, Gladys had a total mental breakdown. She was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and was committed to a state mental hospital. Gladys was confined for her entire life going into and out of hospitals and had no contact with the young Marilyn. When Marilyn turned an adult and was celebrated as a film star,
