Kevin Michael Costner is an American actor director, actor, and singer, renowned for his dramatic portrayal of rough characters with complex emotions. He was raised by middle-class parents. While he attended various schools to complete his education, he was never attracted to studying. He was more into sports and artistic activities like playing the piano, and writing poems. After finishing the business school at California State University, Fullerton, Kevin Costner took up a marketing job despite desiring an acting career. Costner was introduced to Richard Burton accidentally and decided to pursue acting classes. In addition, he worked other jobs to help his family. After performing in minor cameo roles in a few of his early films, he appeared in the 1987 movie The Untouchables which proved to be the turning point in his career. He followed it up with breakthrough performances in films, such as No Way Out, Bull Durham and Field of Dreams, all of which established his standing as an actor of star quality. He made his mark later as a master director and producer with Dances with Wolves, his epic Western war movie. It was awarded the Academy Award in Best Picture and was awarded the Academy Award to Best Director.
