Julie Benz, an American actress, is well-known for her roles as Darla in 'Angel' (TV series) and in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' (TV series). Rita on Dexter is yet another memorable character. Prior to that, Benz had a successful career in figure skating which she decided to quit and switched to acting. She began with local theatre and then moved on to film in which she played minor roles. Through the television series "Hi Honey! I'm Home", she received her first taste of television. Before she was cast in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," she appeared in a variety of TV shows. In 1996, Benz had auditioned for the lead role in 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' but ended up taking the role of a lesser one. After observing her excellent acting abilities the role was extended to an additional few episodes. It was the beginning of her professional career, which made her more visible. She also appeared on some popular shows like 'Supernatural' 'CSI: Miami' Law & Order'. She was the winner in 2006 of the award-winning show "Dexter as Rita Bennett. Benz has been acknowledged by critics and has won many awards for her outstanding acting.
