Joseph Clifford Montana Jr. (born June 11th, 1956) is an American former footballer who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 16 seasons, primarily in the San Francisco 49ers. He was referred to as "Joe Cool" and "the Comeback Kid", Montana is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding quarterbacks of all time. After winning the national championship at Notre Dame, Montana began his NFL career in 1979 in San Francisco, where he played for the following 14 seasons. 7 Montana was the 49ers' Super Bowl MVP and the first to be the winner of four Super Bowls. He holds the Super Bowl records for most passes with no interception (122 in 4 games) and also the highest rating for passers (127.8). In 1993, Montana was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, where Montana played for the final two seasons. He also led the franchise to its first AFC Championship Game. In 2000, Montana was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
