Gucci Mane's track record is long. As the founding father of trap music Mane's been defining the genre of rap since 2001, when he released his first underground album: Str8 Drop Records Presents Gucci Mane La Flare. Mane has amassed a lengthy list of musical achievements: numerous mixtapes and singles, along with eight studio albums. But he started out as Radric Davis, who grew up in Atlanta, and watched his father scam people for money. "You know, he had all kinds of games and scams, such as three card molly and shaking the pea pigeon drop," Gucci Mane tells NPR's Ailsa Chang. "All of them are small scams he picked up -- tricks of the trade that were learned on the streets."
