George Foreman was boxing's most feared fighter from 1973-1974. Undefeated in 40 straight fights, and 37 knockout, he was on 24 consecutive knockout streak in the fight against Muhammad Ali on October 30 1974 to defend his title as the world's heavyweight champion in Zaire, Africa. A product of a poor family, Foreman was in constant legal trouble. Foreman is grateful to his involvement with the Job Corp for turning his life around. He began boxing as an amateur and after three years, He won a gold medal in the 1968 Olympic Games. Only two of 24 amateur matches were lost. He turned pro under the direction of an experienced trainer Dick Saddler. Foreman was the stablemate of former heavyweight king Charles "Sonny" Liston as well as Charlie Snips. Foreman admired Liston's ring style and imitated his mannerisms. To intimidate his adversaries, Foreman used a piercing eye to mimic Liston. Though he was criticised for losing to inferior opponents, he been able to win against credible fighters such as Boone Kirkman, George Chuvallo and Gregorio Peralta. The undefeated Joe frazier was defeated in two brutal rounds to capture the world title in 1973.
