Fran Drescher

 Francine Joy Drescher, better known as Fran Drescher, is an American comedian, actor writer, activist, and actor. She is well-known for her character Fran in the cult TV series 'The Nanny' (1993-1999) and for her famous nasal voice and a rich New York accent. After making her screen debut in the film 'Saturday night Fever' in 1977 and 'Saturday Night Fever', she was a part in 'American hot wax' and the horror novel by Wes Craven "Stranger in our House" in the year 1980. In addition to guest appearances on a variety of TV shows, she also received recognition for films such as Gorp', The Hollywood Knights,’?Doctor Detroit,’?This is Spinal Tap' and ‘UHF. In 1978, she starred in 'American Hot Wax' and Wes Craven's thriller 'Stranger In Our House'. During the show's time on the air it was nominated for the coveted 'Best Actress in Comedy Television Series' category. A survivor of uterine cancer, she is an active healthcare advocate as well as an LGBT rights activist. She is also known for her work as an ambassador for public diplomacy and women's health issues at the 'US State Department. She is currently living in Malibu, California, following her divorce from writer and producer Peter Marc Jacobson.
