Chris Brown

At the center of attention were comparisons to a younger Michael Jackson and Usher, Chris Brown arrived in 2005 as a pop-R&B squeaky clean artist by releasing "Run It!" the first single by male artists to be ranked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in over 10 years. Although there was no place to go but down or at the very least, in terms of chart positions, the singer, dancer, and occasional rapper was just beginning his journey. Brown became a pop sensation within a short time with Chris Brown (2005), Exclusive (2007) Chris Brown (2005), Exclusive (2007) and five other Top Ten singles including "Kiss Kiss", "Forever" and "Kiss Kiss". He was a featured artist and duettist who added to the list with songs like "No Air," which he performed with Jordin Sparks. Brown went through a stylistic change at the end of the decade. His predecessors were R. Kelly, Jodeci and 2Pac. The commercial success of Brown was not slowed by this and more radical changes to his public image. The streak of Top Ten albums was sustained by releases like Graffiti (2009) as well as the Grammy-winning F.A.M.E. (2011) and Fortune (2012). Brown's musical horizons have expanded with Indigo (2019) as well as Heartbreak on a Full Moon (2017), albums that are longer than epic films as well as Breezy (2022) (which is his 10th consecutive Top Ten solo LP.
