 Ashanti Shequoiya is an American singer-songwriter, dancer and producer of records. Grammy Award winner Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas soared to fame with her hit album "Ashanti" and the hit song "Foolish". The album became the most popular album of that time and more than 5 lakh copies were sold. Ashanti was even registered as a participant in the Guinness Book of World Records for her first album's sales figures. She was part of the glamor industry from an early age, and was a part of music videos and television commercials but she rose to fame with her contemporary R&B debut album. Ashanti is also a skilled writer. Her song "Ain’t it Funny (Murder Remix)," which she composed and sang for Jennifer Lopez, reached the top spot on the Billboard top 100. The company she worked for awarded Ashanti the title "Princess Hip Hop & R&B". She received eight Billboard awards and two American Music Awards for the tremendous success of her album. Her role as an actress in 'Bride and Prejudice' (2004), 'About Time' (2013) are worth noting.
